In order to launch Benroy as a basis for other users to remotely access the program, you need to choose a computer to be used as a server. Then other users will be able to connect to the selected server computer and also to work with the program all together at the same time.

Using FileMaker Pro, no more than 5 users can access the program at the same time.

We recommend that a computer that runs FileMaker Pro should be used only for work with Benroy. Additional operating programs may impact program’s speed and data reliability.

To enable other Benroy’s users to work on the server computer, the program should operate continuously.

It is important that Benroy would be in the same location together with all folders delivered with the program.

Step 1

  • Install FileMaker Pro, as recommended by the manufacturer.

Step 2

  • Place Benroy folder (extracted) in the desired location on the computer.
  • Open the FileMaker Pro program and select ‘Open’ in the top menu.
  • Having placed the program in any location in the server computer, it is necessary to launch the program, and, from the top menu, select ‘Sharing’ > ‘Share with FileMaker clients…’ In the opened window, click ‘On’ and then ‘OK’.

Step 3

  •  When Benroy is shared from FileMaker Pro, other users can connect to Benroy using the FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Go client programs on their computers.
  • Each computer can download trial versions of FileMaker Pro client program here.
  • Each iPad tablet can download trial versions of FileMaker Go client program here.
  • When FileMaker Pro client is opened on the top menu, select ‘File’ > ‘Open remote’. In the opened window, select the server computer and click ‘Open’. In this way, Benroy will be opened remotely and you will be able to use it.
  • How to launch Benroy with FileMaker Go read here.

IMPORTANT! If you are not using FileMaker Server, remember always to make daily copies. If you want to make copies using the ‘server’ computer, it is best to do on the server computer and selecting the following track on the top menu within Benroy application: ‘Modules’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Copy’ > ‘Daily copy’.

Connecting to Benroy from an external network

  • You should get a static IP adress from your internet provider and set it up in your router.
  • Open these ports in your router.
  • When connecting from an external network, you should use the static IP address provided to you.
